Life, Death, and a word of advice

Life, Death, and a word of advice

Are legacies still a thing? If I wanted to be remembered for anything, it’d be that my house only had one bathroom-

Seriously, when we’re gone, even if our art or whatever is making us “immortal”, we’re still gone- Neither Van Gough nor Nick Drake are contentedly chuckling somewhere at their posthumous fame and fortune- They ceased to be, broke and dejected- I know this is a depressing way to think, but how can anyone truly believe otherwise? If those two really are somehow peering from the heavens at their art being celebrated, I’m sure they’re kicking their heavenly selves- If they could’ve just held out a few more years, they could’ve enjoyed those earthly spoils! It’s not my intention for my opinion to be viewed as spiritually pessimistic- I don’t imagine these two artists forever pining away for recognition under six feet of ground- I imagine these two artists either snuffed out completely, or are in some post-mortal state that wouldn’t give two figs over how much their work just sold for at auction- If anything, they regret how they anguished over their lack of recognition by the masses they didn’t respect anyway-

If I was to give one piece of generic life advice to anyone, it would be to never take any generic life advice from anyone- I’m referring to, those that brag about their spiritual enlightenment to offer suggestions on how to better yourself- First off, by offering up this unsolicited advice, they are automatically claiming spiritual superiority- They are just complimenting the person in the mirror- Secondly, there’s no single set of spiritual advice that could apply to every individual, unless it’s something generic and simple like the golden rule- We’re all too differently complicated- Enjoy your life simply for what it is, whatever it is, but don’t listen to me- I’m too focused on getting a second bathroom-
